- President John Taylor.

s

Over the years the leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have spoken and written much about political freedom, and both ancient and modern scripture alike refer to revealed and inspired governmental laws.

sYet most Latter-day Saints remain quite unaware of these teachings and thus prone to supporting those measures which diminish rather than protect freedom. This is an issue of great import; our attitude toward freedom before this life provided us the opportunity to progress to mortality. Could our attitude toward it now determine where we go after this life? At least one modern-day prophet has stated as much.

sIn consequence of this, I have endeavoured to put together a number of responsible resources for Latter-day Saints to learn about "the freedom issue". All these sources are LDS with the exception of some items recommended by Church leaders.

I have also provided a page of categorized quotations from Church leaders (in alphabetical order of topic) which you can access by CLICKING HERE. The Church's Newsroom (which has a number of statements on current policy as regards civil and political matters, and moral issues) can be accessed HERE.

sIf you have any comments or suggestions, then drop me an email.
